Sports Camp 2011
Thank you to all who attended
Heroes on the Move 2011
Are you looking for music from Beach Blast 2011? This is the only song that we used from the Beach Blast CD. The majority of the music used at HOTM was from the "Big Apple" CD which we gave out to campers. The Beach Blast CD's seem to be out of print, but you can listen to the theme song at the Lifeway site, or on Youtube, or purchase an older version of the song on itunes - check out "Club VBS: Beach Blast". "Sign Me Up" is an old song from Game Day Central (Lifeway's VBS in 2006). It is available for purchase on itunes.

New This Year
Two Weeks of Camp!!!
Heroes on the Move is a unique faith and fun filled day camp experience for children aged 6-12. Heroes on the Move 2011 is a combination of sports, Beach Blast VBS (Vacation Bible School), and swimming at Centennial Pool. This year there are two weeks of camp to choose from: Heroes on the Move Soccer, and Heroes on the Move Track and Field.
The days begin and end with large group singing, music, puppets and a Bible lesson. Parents are welcome to stay and watch this portion of the day. For the remainder of the day, campers rotate with their huddle groups (by age and gender) to practice their sports skills, go through the VBS rotations and swim in the pool. Although both weeks will have similar components, each will have its unique flavour.
This summer Heroes on Move will be based out of the Port Elgin Curling Club as Saugeen District Secondary School will be undergoing extensive renovations. The soccer portion of the camp will occur at Pierson Soccer Fields, and the track and field portion at the SDSS track.
July 4-8: Heroes on the Move Soccer
This week is focused on developing and fine tuning soccer skills. Campers will spend two hours each morning at Pierson Soccer Fields practicing soccer skills and drills with qualified coaches. They will return again to the field in the afternoon for mini soccer matches. Campers will also have an hour to swim in the pool from Monday to Thursday afternoon. On Thursday evening, families are invited to stay after camp for a short camper recognition ‘ceremony’ and a CAW sponsored family BBQ. On Friday, the VBS portion finishes up in the morning and everyone parades, Olympic-style, back to Pierson Soccer Fields. Family and friends are invited to come and cheer the campers on in the final World Cup-style soccer match.
July 11-15: Heroes on the Move Track & Field
This week is an introduction to track and field skills. Monday to Thursday, campers are trained in activities such as running, discus, high jump and long jump. They are encouraged to try each activity and cheer each other along. In the afternoons, campers rotate through the VBS stations which include games, crafts, and swimming at the pool. On Friday, the VBS portion finishes up in the morning, and everyone heads outside for the track meet in an Olympic-style procession. Family and friends are encouraged to come and cheer on the campers as they compete for ribbons in the activities of their choice. This week of camp ends with a CAW sponsored family BBQ following the track meet.
Special Friends Program
Campers with special needs can experience an adapted form of Heroes on the Move. Either fully integrated with the rest of the campers, or in the Special Friends Huddle Group, these campers will participate in all aspects of camp. Those with higher needs will have one on one mentoring throughout the week. July 11-15 only. Space is limited. For more information, please call Joyce at 519-832-9193.
Leaders in Training (LIT) Program
The LIT program is for 13 and 14 year olds who want to make an impact in their schools, churches and communities for Christ. The purpose of the LIT program is to provide solid Biblical teaching and to build up future leaders within the context of a camp setting. Daily Bible studies will focus on knowing yourself, knowing others, and knowing God. LITs will spend a minimum of 3 hours each day in training, but will also gain practical experience with the campers. On Thursday night, the LITs will have a team-building canoe trip down the Saugeen River and a campout at Saugeen Bluffs. This will be an amazing week of fun, fellowship and service.
July 4-8. Space is limited to 15. Cost is $100 (covers t-shirt, training materials, lunches, canoe trip etc.). LITs are encouraged to return as junior youth leaders for HOTM Track and Field. To apply, please complete the Youth Volunteer Application Form.
Service Team
It is now possible for youth with special needs to volunteer at Heroes on the Move. The Service Team has daily Bible study in the mornings and an hour of free time in the pool in the afternoons. The rest of the day they are involved in serving with the help of their adult Service Team leaders. July 11-15 only. . For more information, please call Joyce at 519-832-9193

This camp is the result of a partnership between Port of Fellowship Baptist Church, Port Elgin Missionary Church, and Southport Pentecostal Church in Saugeen Shores and Bay Leaf Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.
